I’ve never really been a huge fan of extra fine point pens. I have typically liked using more of a bold point pen for taking notes, writing letters or even making random doodles. However, I recently was asked to score some speeches for a high school contest, and I brought them to work one day to edit during my lunch break. I grabbed a red pen that was sitting at my desk, and had gone through a few speeches before I realized that it was an extra fine point pen. As I had been editing, I was realizing how smoothly the pen glided along the paper as I wrote and how it didn’t leak through to the next page. I continued on to edit a total of 18 speeches and never got sick of the pen. Sometimes, when I find a good pen, it is as if my handwriting actually improves over the time I use the pen. I know it sounds crazy, but that’s just me! Anyway – this “magical” pen is the Pilot VBall Grip Rollerball Pen, and I might just have to go out and purchase the blue and black ones to use along with the red one! Forgive the sloppy writing, but here is an example of the pen's work. |

Today in our weekly meeting, my co-worker, Travis, said he had an idea for a blog post. My immediate reaction was – Great! – because I can always use new, fresh ideas. Then the first words out of his mouth were “Urinal Cakes.” At this point, I just shook my head and wondered where he was going with this. However, it is definitely blog-post-worthy. This weekend he was attending a going away party for a family friend, and took his three-year-old son to the bathroom of the restaurant. Once they got in there, his son immediately reached for a urinal cake in one of the urinals, picked it up and asked Travis, “What’s this?” Apparently, he didn’t want it to be in the urinal when he did his business. Being kind of the germ-freak I am, I gagged and hoped that Travis had washed his son’s hands about 30 times after contact was made. He reassured me that he had his son wipe his hands off on his pants and that “it’s all good.” (Just kidding, of course he washed his hands… I think.) Anyway, that was our humor for the day – and very entertaining to picture it happening. Have your kids or friends’ kids done anything that just makes you cringe while you’re in public, or even at home? Please feel free to share these stories – especially if they have any tiny random connection to office products – even if it’s just urinal cakes! |

I recently moved, so whatever organization I did have of my important information just flew out the window. After watching this video, not only am I motivated to organize and sort my papers and files, but I have some great tips on how to do it. Some of the tips include sorting through your file folders to decide what is still relevant and what can be archived or shredded. If need be, replace your file folder labels if they are worn or not clear. Once finished, put all your folders back in order into the filing cabinet and save time later when you’re looking for that one specific document! Good luck organizing! |

Need any Post-It notes or flags? Scotch tape? 3M dry erase boards? Well have I got a deal for you! BuyOnlineNow is having a Spring Sale on over 800 Post-It, Scotch & 3M items! Check out this Beach Design mouse pad. Not only does it have a soothing gel wrist rest, but it also features an image of a beach scene. So, while you’re stressing out about something at work, just take a minute to rest your wrist and look at the picture – and breathe a deep relaxing breath while imagining you’re sipping a drink on the beach. The only downfall is that you’ll have to snap back to reality and get back to work. But, ahhh, for those moments of bliss. Looking for something to spice up your work area? You’re in luck because the Scotch Shoe Tape Dispenser is also on sale this month! Add a little sass to your desk. Also check out the Post-It Pop-Up Notes Purse Dispenser to accompany the shoe. I understand that while I’m a woman and think these are adorable, you may not be and may not agree with me. However, if there’s a certain lady in your life who has the same passion for office supplies as I have, I’m sure she would love to get a little gift. That way she can have it on her desk as a reminder of you that she can see all day every day. Or maybe you’re starting a new big project, and instead of wasting paper writing down your brainstorms, you’re interested in a 3M Melamine Dry Erase Board. Personally, I just enjoy writing on dry erase boards just for the heck of it, and when I do it makes me feel extra creative. Maybe there is some magic in these dry erase boards, or maybe they just fuel brainstorming sessions. Whatever it is, take advantage of it! Happy Shopping! |
