Sharpie will recently be releasing a brand new product that we here at BuyOnlineNow are really excited about, a stainless steel Sharpie marker. Sharpie has been very successful with the time-proven design of their sharpie permanent markers, sturdy construction, comfortable grip, smooth and even writing capabilities and a clip to fasten the marker to your pocket. Now, with a stainless steel cap and body, the sharpie permanent marker has become more, well, permanent. Not only does the stainless steel enclosure ensure that your marker will last forever, but it really brings the aesthetics to a whole new level. Seeing it in person, one can really admire the smooth shine of the steel as it twinkles under the fluorescent lighting of the office, much like a movie star’s eyes reflect the hundreds of paparazzi flash bulbs as they walk the red carpet of a big time Hollywood movie premier. The rich, elegant steel absorbs the ambiance of whatever room you’re in, instantly making you feel like the star of the show, and is sure to give it’s handler an instant and lasting sense of purpose and self-assuredness. The brushed shaft is deliciously accented by the shininess of the clip and ring, while the understated yet bold Sharpie logo along the side projects a sense of sure-handedness that signifies the heroic personality the marker unflinchingly exhibits.
There are no worries of running out of ink either, as changing the refill is as simple as unscrewing the empty one and screwing in the fresh one. My initial feeling, is that the marker is sure to cause ripples throughout the industry for quite a while, as putting this much power into peoples hands could reflect incredible, long-lasting changes and shake up the way we look at permanent markers. I’m excited to see what happens. Stainless Steel Sharpie permanent markers are available now, so my recommendation is to start mentally and physically preparing yourself so you’ll be ready to not only act, but also react, when this powerful piece of machinery finds it’s way into your hands. Also, there's a great write up about the new Stainless Steel Sharpies on the OfficeSupplyGeek blog, I highly recommend reading.

Dahle paper shredders, known worldwide for their industrial quality, high-security levels and enormous daily shredding capacity, are now offered with free shipping from office supply superstore BuyOnlineNow.
Dahle shredders are manufactured in Germany using top quality parts. The cutting cylinders are guaranteed for life, and the rubber shock mounts, innovative electronic sensors and thermally protected motors ensure a long lasting, durable office machine. Dahle shredders are available in many different sizes and styles, with models designed for anything from small offices, to high-security government agencies and even deployment shredders with air-tight waterproof casing, made for shredding in the field.
Dahle addressed many of the concerns customers had about paper shredders, especially focusing on customers who would be doing a large amount of shredding. One very common complaint about using commercial grade shredders is that they usually are very noisy. By using rubber shock mounts that support and absorb vibrations at crucial areas inside the shredder, Dahle was able to dramatically reduce the noise levels.
Dahle produces many shredders that meet and even exceed the security standards set forth by the NSA/CSS 02-01, used for the destruction of Top Secret COMSEC documents. This is also known as security level 6, and is directly related to the size of the shred.
The following diagram shows some more of the many features that set Dahle shredders apart from the rest of the paper shredder industry. |

OXO has come up with a great feature on their new Good Grips Touch CanTM Trash Cans. By just touching the panel on the top of the trash can, the lid will automatically open and then stay open until you touch the panel again. This way you don’t have to worry about having to try and juggle your garbage so you’ll have a free hand to lift off and hold a lid while you put your trash inside.

Also, because of the narrow, rectangular footprint of the garbage can it’s easy to find a convenient place to keep it, whether in the corner, against a wall or basically anywhere. The opening is made wider than the base. This makes the OXO Good Grips trash cans a great choice for optimizing space. There are large handles on each side of the trash cans to make them very easy to move and because they come with a non-slip base, you won’t have to worry about scratching your floors. OXO uses their Unique Bag ClipsTM which are designed to hold the garbage bag from falling inside the can so you’ll never have to worry about tying the bag in place, and this way the garbage bag edge is hidden from view for aesthetic reasons.
OXO also has their regular Good Grips trash cans, which come with all the same features as the Touch CansTM, but use a foot pedal and a motion control device which guarantees that the lid will open and close smoothly and silently, instead of the touch panel on the lid. OXO Good Grips trash cans are a great looking, practical and are designed to look good no matter where they are used. |

Fellowes paper cutters and paper trimmers have been created with a level of quality we’ve come to expect from all of their products. As with Fellowes paper shredders , there is a strong emphasis on as evident by the name of the trimmers, SafeCut™. The rotary trimmers have unique and well thought out designs that serve specific purposes in preventing any accidental injuries.
Fellowes has created a whole range of rotary trimmers, in enough styles that there should be one to fit any need and/or budget, with cutting capacities ranging from 10 sheets to 30 sheets. All of the Fellowes rotary trimmers except the Atom 150 and Atom 180 use replaceable blades that come in the form of snap-in cartridges. The blades stay completely enclosed inside the cartridge until they are placed in the trimmer and the handle is pushed down to start cutting. As soon as pressure is taken off the handle, the blade retracts into the cartridge so there is no way that the blade can come into contact with anything except the cutting surface of the trimmer.
There are four different types of replacement blades: wavy, perforated, scoring and the traditional straight blade. Most of the trimmers have built in storage for the extra blades and replacing the blade cartridges is as easy as snapping them in and out.
After time the cutting surface on the trimmer will start to wear out, so Fellowes made replaceable cutting mats, so you can be sure you’re getting clean cuts no matter how frequently you use your trimmer.
Just like with all of their products, Fellowes has found some interesting ways to optimize the level of safety while creating a highly functional and practical line of paper cutters. |

Recently, a few of us from BuyOnlineNow were invited to Fellowes headquarters near Chicago to learn more about their company and their products and to make demonstration videos of some of their paper shredders. It was very interesting to see the main offices, learn more of the history of Fellowes and to take a tour through their manufacturing facilities where we saw Fellowes products actually being produced. We met with many representatives who gave us in depth product showcases and generally helped us understand more about the items they made. To relax and unwind at the end of the day, the plan was to go and see the Chicago Cubs play the Houston Astros at the "Friendly Confines" of Wrigley Field. After a quick and hearty dinner near the ballpark we went in and watched the game. We had excellent seats and everyone who came along seemed to be really enjoying themselves. We sat very close to the Cubs bullpen and had a great view of the pitchers warming up. Even though the forecast predicted rain, we got very lucky and the only "pouring" that occured was done by the vendors carrying around the Old Style and Budweiser. After the game we made our way out of Wrigley to a bar across the street to have a quick nightcap before heading back to the hotel and getting some rest. One of us mentioned possibly getting something to eat, but apparently the tavern we had chosen would only serve us food if we moved our party inside from the patio which was closing. Instead we just decided to pile in the van and make our way back. We did, in fact, have to be back to Fellowes fairly early the next morning, so it was decided we could maybe stop for something quick on the way back or even just hold off until breakfast.
It wasn't very far down the road we had driven when someone mentioned something about burritos. Not thirty seconds later, the same one of us who mentioned eating in the first place, and who was now driving the van, noticed a white and blue glow out of the corner of his eye and was drawn to it like a moth to the flames. Before any of us knew what was happening, or could offer any protest, we found ourselves in the long line at the White Castle drive through. I can't speak for any of the other passengers of the van, but based on my own personal experiences, I immediately started to get a little nervous and started sweating profusely. I knew how much power each White Castle slider held, what they would do to me and how hard it would be to deny the tiny square onion grilled buttons of goodness, but it was too late for that now.
After waiting in the drive through line for a few tense minutes, it was deemed that going inside would be the wisest choice, in an otherwise unwise situation. The only girl in our crew was chosen to go in and do the ordering for the simple reason that she was "closest to the door." Keep in mind it is approaching midnight and we aren't in the nicest neighborhood in Chicago. After waiting another few long minutes, I figured I should go in and offer my help in carrying out the 20 plus sliders, a few orders of fries and a couple of cokes. I can easily count on one hand how many times I've eaten at White Castle, but never before have I been witness to the magic involved in producing those delicious little sliders. Cooked on a bed of onions, the small square patties are then covered with pickles and placed inside a miniature bun. Judging by the look on the cook's face, making the burgers isn't nearly as interesting as watching them being made. As we waited patiently for our order, we saw at least 200 sliders go out. It was unbelievable. Finally, after an amazing 45 minutes had gone by, our "Crave Case" was ready, though it seemed like only a few minutes had passed as I sat transfixed behind the protective glass next to the grill station. The head chef called for our "four orders of fries, please!" but you could tell she didn't really mean the "please." We made our way to the waiting van outside and passed the sliders out to the eager hands inside.
Because I knew from specific personal experiences that White Castle sliders do not by any means agree with me, I resisted for a while in actually partaking in the feast. However, it wasn't long till that delicious aroma of onions and meat filled the van and the glorious echo of lips smacking lulled my senses into giving into the sweet, sinful temptation of a White Castle slider . I decided to have just one, figuring I would be fine (wrong), and I can still remember how amazing the flavor was. I figured that this is what Adam must've felt like when he took a bite of the apple in the garden of eden. I knew I would possibly regret my decision, but it just tasted so good.
Looking back, I think what I learned from the whole experience is that the people from Fellowes were awesome and really went out of their way to show us their products and treat us well and I look forward to the next time I get to see them all. Also I learned that stopping at White Castle at midnight for a quick meal isn't always necessarily very quick, but watching them make the sliders makes the time go by a lot faster than waiting in the van. And even though that one slider I ate didn't sit well in my stomach and I didn't feel like I was 100% for the next 24 hours, if you asked me whether I would do it all again, I'd have to say, yes, I certainly would. |
