Every year, an estimated 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and unfortunately, of those, more than 40,000 will die.  Although it is more commonly found in women, breast cancer is also diagnosed in over 1,700 men each year.  No one wants to hear that they have been diagnosed with breast cancer; however it isn’t always a death sentence.  By finding it early, and diagnosing it properly through self-tests and mammograms, breast cancer can be a very treatable disease.

Unfortunately, there is no cure for breast cancer as of yet, so the best we can hope for is to raise awareness of the disease so that people will make sure to be tested early and often.  The National Breast Cancer Foundation, INC. has some great information on self examinations, signs and symptoms of breast cancer, risk factors and early detection.
