At BON, we recently had a chance to learn more about Carl Punches and Trimmers and see the products in action when a couple of representatives came to visit a few weeks ago.
The Carl XHC-2100N Heavy-Duty 2-Hole Punch has a 100-sheet capacity, built-in paper guide and strong handle grip. This hole punch has a strong handle grip that allows easy punching. This was one of the products shown in the demonstration, and we got the chance to try it myself. The Carl Representative handed me a large stack of paper (I was sure there were more than 100 sheets in the pile), and I was easily able to punch through all of them – I didn’t even break a sweat! I have to admit, I was really skeptical after being told that it was “really effortless” to punch through all that paper, but after doing it myself, I see that what they claim is true.
Another great puncher is the Carl 40-Sheet HC-340 Heavy-Duty Three-Hole Punch. This punch has precision ground steel punch heads and a built-in paper guide. Don’t you hate when you’re punching a bunch of sheets of paper to put together in a binder, and once you get them in the binder they don’t fit? This drives me crazy! I remember getting so frustrated in college when I would have a ton of hand outs from my professors that I used my cheap three-hole punch on, and of course, they never lined up. Never underestimate the power of a paper guide.
And of course, don’t forget to replace the punches as needed!
As I said earlier, we were also shown some Carl Trimmers along with the Punches. My favorite trimmer line was the Carl Green Machine Professional Rotary Trimmer. My favorite in this line is the beast of all trimmers, the DC-250N 25” Cutting Length Green Machine. This trimmer is the ideal choice for even the most demanding cutting project. This trimmer also includes a handy storage area that holds an extra straight and perforating blade as well as an additional cutting mat. Nothing beats a rotary trimmer. With the sturdy metal base and patented rail mechanism the paper is held firmly in place to ensure a precise cut.
Maybe you don’t need such a heavy-duty trimmer. Try the RT-200N Trimmer with a 12” Cutting Length. The cutting is easy and accurate, thanks to the luminous paper guide made from light-harvesting acrylic. The calibrated sturdy metal base is great for repetitive cuts, and there is a handy compartment that stores extra blades and cutting mats. The stainless steel no-touch safety blade cuts standard paper, card stock, photos and plastic sheets. This trimmer is perfect for anyone on a budget!
Be sure to keep some replacement blades and replacement cutting mats handy!
