Looks like the power shredder is a really popular choice. I bought one a couple of years ago just to deal with all those credit card offers and balance transfer checks I keep getting in the mail.
A funny story about shredders - a few years ago I worked for a trashbag manufacturer. One year my employer bought a bunch of little trash cans with automated lids. They filled them with cookies and candy and sent them to all our customers (classy, I know). About a month later, one of the recipients mentioned how much they appreciated the shredder we sent them. I guess they still hadn't figured out it was a trash can! I guess a shredder would have been a better gift.
